Why did Dow Jones choose DB2?

Bashir Khan, Executive Director of Data Management and Business Intelligence at Dow Jones, recently sat down with us and explained why his company chose IBM DB2 on the Unix platform, and why they continue to use it.

Here's one of my favorite line:  "Before we made a final decision, we benchmarked some of the key database management systems including Oracle, SQL Server and DB2.  And we ended up choosing DB2 for several reasons.  One was reliability, second was performance, and perhaps the most important factor was ease of use."

Please do watch the whole video, though.  If you're looking to understand why a major organization chose DB2 and the benefits they're seeing from it, this is a great summary.

It seems to me that IBM forgot to demonstrate Dow Jones the reliability, performance and ease of use of Informix :-)
